Syllabus

12 Lessons over 12 weeks

Week 1

Flight Fundamentals

We explore the fundamental forces that enable flight (lift, weight, thrust, and drag) and Newton's Laws of Motion.

Week 2

History of Flight

Trace the evolution of flight from nature's inspiration to modern aircraft, examining different types of aircraft and their applications.

Week 3

Wings and Airflow

Session 3 focuses on how wings create lift through Bernoulli's principle and explores different wing designs and airfoils.

Week 4

Aircraft Control

This lesson introduces aircraft control surfaces (ailerons, elevators, rudders, spoilers, and flaps) and explains how they enable pilots to steer planes.

Week 5

Advanced Control

Review control surfaces and examine how aircraft achieve balance and stability during takeoff, flight, and landing.

Week 6

Propulsion Systems

Session 6 explores various propulsion systems (propellers, jet engines, rockets) with emphasis on the evolution of modern jet engines.

Week 7

Weather and Flight

Examine how weather affects flight, including wind patterns, runway design, and how pilots navigate weather challenges

Week 8

Airports and Air Traffic

Covers airport infrastructure, air traffic control systems, and navigation tools that ensure safe takeoffs and landings.

Week 9

Flight Navigation

Trace the evolution of flight navigation from star-based methods to modern systems using waypoints, beacons, and precision approaches.

Week 10

Physics of Flight

Delve into advanced physics concepts of flight including air pressure, speed measurements, and critical flight control parameters.

Week 11

Helicopters

Introduces helicopter flight principles, different rotor configurations, and how helicopters differ from fixed-wing aircraft.

Week 12

Future of Aviation

Explores emerging aviation technologies including electric aircraft, sustainable flight innovations, and drone applications.
